What makes TPDA special
Our classes allow us to truly know our dancers, recognize their strengths, potential, and provide the guidance to grow.
Our proximity to and connections in New York City allow us to bring special guest artists directly to our dancers. Our students have learned from professional ballet dancers, Radio City Rockettes, and other accomplished professional dancers.
We welcome both recreational dancers and students interested in pursuing dance long term. Our studio teaches essential technical training and opportunities to perform through our annual recital, competition program, and special workshops.
At TPDA, continuing education is an important part of our teachers’ lives. Owner and director Miss Lara, and competition coach and instructor Miss Becca, train weekly in New York. They bring this up-to-date knowledge and experience back to TPDA students in their weekly teachings.
Just as importantly, TPDA provides a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where dancers and parents feel comfortable, welcomed, and personally known.

Ages 2 – 5
Jump-Starting Creativity
The mind of a child is big and bold, and we give them room to grow. Every class invites them to express themselves, building a lifelong love of creativity and self-expression.
Supercharging Growth
Children learn to listen, take turns, and move together as a group. These early lessons in cooperation and confidence carry into the classroom, the playground, and beyond.
Exciting, Novel Experiences
For many young dancers, our studio is one of their first experiences in a structured class outside the home. Our teachers make that step feel safe and exciting.
Rising Stars
Ages 6 – 10
Healthy Exercise Habits
Dance is exercise that doesn't feel like a chore. Kids stay active, build strength and flexibility, and burn off energy while having genuine fun.
Self-Discipline and Confidence
Learning a routine takes focus, practice, and patience, and mastering one feels amazing. Our classes teach children to listen closely, work hard, and keep going when something is tricky.
A First Taste of Competition
For dancers who are ready, we offer a chance to perform, set goals, and experience the thrill of the stage alongside teammates, with an emphasis on growth, sportsmanship, and joy.
Breaking Through To Serious Dance
This is where play turns into technique. Children begin exploring distinct styles, learning proper form, and discovering what kind of dancer they want to be.

Tweens and Teens
Ages 11 – 17
Lasting Friendships & Teen Bonding
Some of the strongest friendships are formed through long rehearsals, shared nerves backstage, and the joy of nailing a routine together. Our studio provide teens this space to belong.
A Sense of Accomplishment & Pride
There's nothing like the moment the music ends and the audience applauds. Our teens experience the deep pride that comes from hard work paying off.
Perfecting Technique
With a solid foundation in place, teen dancers are ready to take their training to the max. Classes focus on precision, strength, musicality, and more advanced choreography.
Schools of Dance at TPDA
Ballet
The graceful and elegant art of ballet is often the poster child for dance for good reason. Ballet is a key pillar for any future dance. Teachers reinforce excellent posture, awareness of one’s body on the stage, and keen attention to the tiniest details of a performance.
Jazz
Dynamic, high-energy, and undeniably fun, jazz dance is where classic technique meets modern rhythm. Building on the strong foundation of ballet, jazz teaches dancers to unleash their personality through sharp movement, explosive leaps, and intricate footwork.
Pre-School Classes
Anyone can dance—and that includes our tiniest dancers, too! In addition to exposure to the arts, pre-school students will build a joy for movement and exercise, and begin to appreciate and understand the values of teamwork and practice.
Lyrical & Contemporary
Where technique meets storytelling. Lyrical and contemporary dance blend the strength of ballet with the freedom of modern movement, teaching dancers to interpret music with emotion, fluidity, and intention. Students learn to use their whole body to tell a story and discover their own artistic voice.
Competition
Our multi-award-winning competition is one of TPDA’s shining stars. Students as young as seven are invited to audition for a spot on one of our two teams. Competition dancers travel in and around Connecticut where they put on a show before a panel of judges and their peers!
Musical Theater
Lights, music, showtime! Musical theater combines dance, character, and stage presence, as students learn choreography inspired by Broadway's biggest hits. Dancers build confidence, expressiveness, and performance skills that shine on any stage, all while having a blast bringing a story to life.
